SPRINGFIELD IN RECENT DECADES: THE CIVIL RIGHTS ERA TO THE PRESENT
July 28, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Part 3 in the series: Becoming Beloved Community: Understanding the Racial Division in Springfield
NAACP Springfield Chapter President Denise Williams and a panel of community members reflect on their experiences from their childhood and from more recent days.
About the series: A consortium of Springfield congregations presents a six-part speaker series that combines sociological, theological, and historical perspectives in an effort to better understand the lived experience of racial identities in this part of the Miami Valley. Each event in the series will provide insights from experts in the field, offer opportunities for questions and discussion, and set aside time for dinner and fellowship.
All of the events begin at 4pm on consecutive Sundays at the Central Community Center (102 W. High St.), and most sessions will last around 90 minutes. The speaker portion will also be live streamed on the Facebook page “Becoming Beloved Community in Springfield.” Live streaming will make the information in the series more widely available and will also help registered participants follow the whole series even when they have schedule conflicts.
